The National Caribbean Monument and a Belgium contingency from "Friends of In Flanders Fields" - 11/11/2021

The National Caribbean Monument and a Belgium contingency from "Friends of In Flanders Fields" (VIFF) gathered n Poperinghe New Military Cemetary, at the grave of 17 year old Private Herbert Morris who was executed by firing squad, 20 September 1917.

It was his story that prompted Vice Chair Pauline Milnes's instigation of the Charity, so it was only fitting that she and the chair of VIFF laid wreaths on his grave at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Poperinghe New Military Cemetery, in the town of Poperinge, Belgium.

We then visited the execution site and condemned cells of the condemmed (“deserters” ) during WW1 including Herbert Morris.
