Arras to Eternity

More than just a walk!!

Dear Members,

TNCMC are doing a sponsored walk from Arras in France, to the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA) on the above dates. The Walkers will be Wayne Howell, Walt Disney plus support and safety staff.

We will be passing several landmarks and memorials on route where we will pay our respects.

This is a TNCMC project for Black History Month, a venture that will start in France take in parts of Belgium, the south of England and the Midlands returning to the NMA, some 310 miles on foot. Last year the walk began from Ayrshire in Scotland and arrived in the Midlands at the NMA in honour of Walter Tull. This year’s walk is in Honour of all our men and women, but we have singled out Herbert Morris, who was the spark that galvanised this charity into action.

TNCMC would normally lay a wreath at Herbert Morris’s Grave in September, but this year we have decided to postpone this event until October to coincide with the sponsored walk where Pauline Milnes will lay the wreath at Herbert Morris’s grave. In attendance will be the walkers and support staff, plus representation from our Belgium friends and supporters with media coverage.

The route will be:

8th NMA to Folkstone, Folkstone to Flanders Northern France.

9th Arras to Cambrai

10th Arras to Wattigines France

11th Wattigines to Poperinghe, Belgium (place of Herbert Morris grave).
